Fall Nail Color Picks

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

In the middle of Fashion Month, fall looks from February are starting to make an appearance in stores and new ones for the upcoming spring/summer season next year are being put on display for the first time. With the fall season arriving, colors are changing, and I don't just mean on the leaves. Fall clothing has started to appear and also fall nail colors. Here are my picks for the perfect fall nail colors...
My observation in the fashion world says that maroon is the focal fall color, even stated in the fall issue of Net-a-Porter. Along with maroon, navy and hunter green are great fall colors and so versatile. Almost every collection at Victoria’s Secret has these three colors incorporated into it. Of course Victoria’s Secret is looking towards the London lifestyle since the fashion show is taking place there this year.

My maroon (or even burgundy) nail pick is from Sephora. Their Formula X line is brilliant and has many diverse collections made up of beautiful colors. Obsessed is described as a deep merlot. It definitely looks perfect for fall and is beautiful on.

For the hunter green color, my pick one from the Nars & 3.1 Philip Lim collection that was released around a month ago. Shutter, is the loveliest shade of dark green I have ever had. I’ve seen many different greens but this one hits the mark. The formula goes on super nice and is perfect for fall. Especially if you live somewhere the leaves turn all the fall colors.

My navy pick is my first polish I ever bought from Chanel. Blue Satin is a rich navy blue with a slight shimmer to it. The shimmer isn’t noticeable until you have a proper look in the right lighting. This formula stays on really well but it does have its negative parts. If you invest in this color, definitely make sure you wear a base coat or else you’ll have a slight navy stain left behind on your nails when you take it off. When it does come to taking off the polish, the skin around your nails may be stained navy blue for a bit but it’s really only noticeable to the wearer.

If you are on a bit of a budget, I tested out Essie’s After School Boy Blazer and it is a dead ringer for Blue Satin and doesn’t have that shimmer Blue Satin does. You really can’t go wrong with either polish.

I have been on the hunt for these three colors since I was in high school. I’ve seen all these colors either be too much of something and I’m left unsatisfied. Thankfully I have found the shades I’ve been looking for, and no telling that I may acquire more in this family down the road.
