Makeup at Bobbi Brown

I find myself to be a floater between makeup counters at my local, newly renovated Belk. I love my bits from MAC, Chanel, Benefit, and – more recently – Bobbi Brown. After an invitation to come get my makeup done during the first re-grand opening days of Belk, I was thrilled to try out Bobbi Brown products for the first time.  My good friend, Kristen, and I were both treated to makeovers and a free gift afterwards.
The first step was cleansing and prepping my skin for the makeup. Bobbi Brown has a hydrating skin care line, which also contain built in primers to help the application of makeup go on smoother. After the prep came the concealer. I really liked how Amy, my makeup artist, applied it. She made it really simple and smooth, just as concealer should be.

Next came the fun part: foundation. She used the Skin Weightless Foundation in “Beige.” This foundation was a change for me. It was actually a packed powder, not the liquid I normally use. She applied it with the Full Coverage Brush, which was amazing. Seriously. I went back just last week to buy the brush. Expect a review soon. The end result made my skin look flawless and smooth. Next up was bronzer, which was in the shade “Golden Light.” I found it gave me a really nice glow but Amy went one step further and applied blush in “Light Pink” and that really helped give me a pop of color on my cheeks. Keeping it neutral with the lips, Malt Shimmer lip color was first applied and to top it off, Gold Glitter lip-gloss was applied on top.

Continuing on to the eyes, which are always my favorite focal point of makeup, I chose the new Scotch on the Rocks palette, which has a nice range of neutral colors, some shimmer and some matte. For eyeliner, Amy lined my eyes in “Black Scotch” using the Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush. The mascara was a new one to Bobbi Brown and I loved it. The Smokey Eye mascara curled, volumized, and lengthened my lashes all without an eyelash curler. Once I use up some of my mascaras in my collection I think I may purchase the mascara (if I can wait that long).

I was really, really happy with the final look. I can be a bit picky after getting my makeup done but I loved the work Amy did on my face. I’ve known her for quite a few years and she does a brilliant job. Kristen and I also received little gifts. The ‘Bobbi to Go’ holds a small palette filled with five lip glosses. We also received samples of the Extreme Party mascara and Intensifying Long-Wear mascara. I haven’t decided how much I like them compared to the Smokey eye mascara. I also got a sample of the Hydrating Eye Cream, which has now ended up in my mother’s makeup bag somehow. I can’t wait to add Bobbi’s products to my collection over time.
