One can never go wrong with the perfect Eyeshadow palette.
With so many out there, it’s good to do some research before that purchase.
Here are my favorites from my collection…
Urban Decay Naked 2
Long ago, last year really, I was just a simple girl who was
just starting to expand her makeup looks. My close friends had Naked palettes
and at the time they weren’t at the top of my wish list. But after being gifted
Naked 3 at Christmas I realized I wanted another Naked palette to join its mate.
About two months ago a good friend of mine gave me Naked 2 after a family
member discovered she couldn’t use it. I was so excited to get Naked 2 because
it is so up my alley.
Classified as a taupe and gray-beige neutral palette, Naked
2 is rich in shimmer shade selections. This palette is one of my favorites. I
am definitely a fan of a shimmery eye and this palette has 9 shimmers and 3
mattes, which is perfect for me. Unfortunately I don’t have Bootycall and Half-Baked is on its way out of the palette but I have plenty of
similar shades. My favorite shades are definitely Verve, to use in my inner corners and does a brilliant job, and YDK, which is beautiful and named as a
cool bronze shimmer. I can never go wrong with Chopper, Suspect or Snakebite either. I wish I had gotten
this palette in my hands sooner.
Urban Decay Naked 3
Naked 3 was my first ever palette and it was a wonderful
Christmas gift last year. I didn’t know how much hype was surrounding this
palette and if I did I may have been even more excited than I was when I opened
it.
A palette filled with rose-hued neutrals, this palette was a
fresh new look for the Naked palette family. It was geared more towards the
matte lovers but I still think it has plenty of shimmers. Naked 3 has three matte
shades and 9 shimmery ones, Trick
being my absolute favorite. For matte shades, Nooner would be the one my brush gravitates to the most. This
palette is on the lighter side, which is good for the every day eye, but can be
built up for a more night out eye look. Limit
is my pick for a nude base shade, then layer one or two more shades over.
The double-ended brush is a wonderful addition to the
palette; I even use it for other eye shadows not in this palette. I will say
unfortunately this palette has a lot of fall out with its shadows. I always
expect to have to clean up my eye area after using a shade from Naked 3.
Lorac Pro Palette
This palette was one that I did a lot of research on before
purchasing but after realizing the multitude of eye looks I could do with 16
eye shadows (8 matte, 8 shimmer), I was sold. Mentioned before, this palette
has a range of 16 different shadows and they’re all soft, buttery, and great
for blending. I didn’t own any matte shades before this palette and it is a
great pick to start experimenting with matte colors. I have gotten a lot of use
out of White and Sable in the matte row. Also being a fan of shimmers, I fell in
love with the selection ranging from the perfect glittery Champagne, the light brown with slight grey sheen Pewter, and the brilliant Garnet shade (which I have layered with
Chopper from Naked 2 recently).
The packaging is also really nice too and would work for
traveling. The shadows are no bigger than a nickel but spaced out nicely. They
live in a slim palette, which features a soft magnetic closure. The mirror
within isn’t half bad either.
Urban Decay Shadow Box
An exclusive to Ulta, this little beauty is still a recent
and exciting purchase. 12 shadows make up this small yet perfect for traveling palette;
all shimmer except for Blackout, also seen in Naked 2. This palette was a
special creation from Urban Decay with beloved cult shades and also new colors
like Moonshadow, a bright navy blue,
and Baked Cowboy, a golden bronze. I
have already gotten good use out of Smog,
a ruddy brown with gold flecks, and Lost,
a chocolate brown with silver shimmer. Sin,
a favorite featured in the Shadow Box, is also perfect for highlighting and the
inner corners. Bordello and Flash look better on my eyes once I
blend them out too.
The box is a couple inches bigger than my iPhone 5 and has a
quality sized mirror inside. It also has a magnetic closure too so it wont pop
open in case you’re on the go with this little box.
