What I Packed | London 2019
Monday, July 15, 2019
Obviously I'm a planner. Along with being a planner, I'm a hoarder. A hoarded of the tiny and travel sized skincare and makeup. I'd like to say thank you to my job for the products but it's also me being me. I decided early on of what skincare and makeup I was going to take with me in relation to the weather, climate, and however my skin was going to react in another country.
Antioxidants. Hydration. Oil Control. Balance.
These were some of the words that crossed my mind for my stay in London. I wanted to prepare for all possible cases with my skin tbh. I don't travel much so I'm not one of those people who knows how their skin will behave on a plane then in another city. We're just going off assumptions here folks!
To cleanse and remove makeup I chose my mini Glossier Milky Jelly which should come as no surprise because I love that cleanser. I'd use it as my makeup remover if there weren't other things out for me to try. I also chose to bring Youth to the People Superfood cleanser with me because I knew it was deeply cleansing and has so many superfoods inside that it should bubblewrap my skin against environmental aggressors. I feel slightly pretentious saying that but those evil factors are out there and they'll get you over time. I even packed a third cleanser (omg) BUT it was on the exfoliating side with glycolic acid and more antioxidants!!
I still brought two eye creams because I'm a psycho and had to keep up my routines. Luckily I had minis of the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright that I used in the morning and Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye at night.
Treatment wise I brought some of the Tea Tree products from Biossance. I used the Squalane + Tea Tree Balancing Oil almost every night to keep my skin clear and even. I had a couple break outs pop up but nothing that meant it was the end of the world. I really liked using this because it was a fine oil that absorbed quickly. I could see myself using this in my regular life when I don't use Sunday Riley UFO. I brought the Tea Tree Detox Mask too but I didn't end up using it.
For moisturizers, I was already set on Glow Recipe's Watermelon moisturizer because its super lightweight and has the natural antioxidants from the watermelon. I also know my skin loves this moisturizer, and it did in London! At night I went for a richer choice but still gel-based, because that's how I usually roll with this oily-prone complexion. I chose another mini from Biossance, the Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer. I've used this before and loved it. It's so quenching that I could just feel the hydration setting in.
Haircare wise, because I'm oh so low maintenance, I brought three products with me: shampoo, hair oil, and dry shampoo. I had a mini Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Triple Detox shampoo stashed away for the perfect occasion, my deluxe size Ouai hair oil (I will never be without u), and Amika Perk Up dry shampoo, which I have grown to LOVE. The Living Proof doesn't lather like, at all, so that was a miss for me.
Choosing my makeup was a lot easier because it was less about how my skin was going to react. I brought a new Clinique Pretty Easy eyeliner and Milk Kush mascara. Brows was Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown, but I really just brought it for the spoolie, and Clear Brow Gel. For eyeshadow I settled on my new Huda Beauty New Nude palette and Charlotte Tilbury Dreamgasm, which arrived just before my trip! For face primer I chose Ole Henriksen's Banana Bright Primer, which I still love. I waited until the last second to chose foundation but I ended up settling on Too Faced Born This Way. This combination was perfect for me because the primer layered with the foundation gave me that natural glow with the perfect amount of coverage. I brought my new YSL Touche Eclat concealers because why not bring the best on vacation? I was lucky enough to have the original and the new High Cover. They're meant to be layered as a means of correcting and concealing and I used them that way! But I know I'd be gucci with one or the other.
For the added works, I brought Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk blush and Filmstar Bronze & Glow because it has the contour and the highlight in it. Setting powder I brought Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish and finished off with the Cover FX High Performance setting spray because it promises long wear and also pollution protection (!!).
I only brought one lipstick with me. To no surprise it was Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk because it's just perfect. I also had my new Kevyn Aucoin lip glass in Prism Rose to wear over it or alone. I ended up adding my Hot Lips 2 along the way.
I kept things really simplistic but carefully selected before setting off to London. While some might get stressed out at the thought, I LOVE packing. Maybe it's because I'm so organized most of the time too. I would probably take just about everything listed above but leave a few things at home like the Biossance mask. When I did originally pack everything, I split it up between my pink monogrammed Pop & Suki case and a Caudalie makeup bag that's HUGE. When I was on the plane, I had a mini size of Herbivore's Rose Hibiscus spray for an in-flight spritz because I was living my best life as a skincare blogger. I only used it once though when I got up to go to the bathroom LOL.
