If you, like me, pay attention to the product releases in the beauty community or frequent the Sephora app like it's your job (...oh wait...it's mine), then you may have noticed an uptake in makeup brands crossing over into the world of skincare, and the same could be true of some skincare brands dabbling in makeup launches too but that's not why we're here! I'm looking at you, Too Faced...you tried. Huda Beauty has started to break the mold with this scrub that's not a scrub. Bobbi Brown and Tarte have been doing both for years...but they've earned their place in my opinion. Milk Makeup decided to enter the ring with their Vegan Milk Moisturizer and soon followed with a cleanser.
Playing off their name, Milk Makeup based their moisturizer has an ultra hydrating, rich moisturizer loaded with three different kinds of hydrating milks: desert, fig, and oat. They promise lightweight hydration but when I tried it, I felt like I was joining the community of dry skin folks because this baby was thicc. Don't get me wrong, I loved the thicker consistency and I really massaged it into my skin to let it absorb but I wouldn't give this to anyone with a bit of oil in their skin.
If this is your moisturizer of choice and you experience dryness frequently or some dryness around certain areas, have at it! You can't go wrong with this moisturizer. It will make your makeup go on better and smoother over time too, because that's what makeup branded moisturizers usually do. Now if you're more on the combo-normal side with little dryness in your life, then I'd probably stick this in your nighttime routine. I ultimately passed my moisturizer onto my less oily privileged coworker but if I had kept it, the Milk moisturizer would have become a nightly staple in the hydration category.
Milk Makeup has really impressed me here with their first two skin product launches from ingredients to usage to sticking to their brand story. I enjoyed the cleanser in the AM and as a second cleanse in the PM. I'm waiting to see what's next...a sunscreen would be fab....just saying!
